Portable Induction Hobs Save The Day After Fire Destroys Gas Cooking Range

Quick thinking Chef, David Penny from The Wharf House, Gloucester, reacted fast when he experienced a flash fire on his gas cooking range when spilt cooking oil ignited across the range drip trays.  However, despite throwing a fire blanket over the cooker and also using a CO2 extinguisher to finally kill the blaze, he was unable to save his gas cooking range.

Fortunately the kitchen ventilation system removed a lot of the smoke without catching on fire itself.  This was due to the special cyclone grease filters fitted into the kitchen ventilation canopy which was originally supplied by Target Catering Equipment.  This minimised smoke damage but unfortunately the gas range and grill was beyond economic repair.

Gas Cooking Range - Destroyed By Fire

The gas range had been due for replacement and an alternative was already on order, following a successful bid for a Carbon Trust loan to help with the funding.  Its replacement was to be a safe, energy efficient, 6 zone induction cooking station, manufactured and supplied by Target Catering Equipment.

Chef, David Penny needed his replacement cooker fast as The Wharf House had a fully booked suite of rooms.

As Target builds each induction cooking station to order, it was not yet ready for delivery, but fortunately Target have a range of portable induction hobs for such emergencies, all working from standard 13 amp plugs, so David was able to take advantage of these and was back up and running within 1 hour.

The new 6 zone induction cooking station was delivered the following week, much to the delight of the team of chefs, who now, not only have a clean and safe new piece of induction equipment in their kitchen, but also will now benefit from a kitchen which is substantially cooler and saving them a fortune on their energy costs.
